(2006)
Collaboration with the laboratory to synthesize and analytically test a directionally-oriented microparticle for future biological and optical applications.
Center for Soft Condensed Matter, New York University (2005 - Present, on leave)
Department of Chemical Engineering, University of California Santa Barbara(2002 - 2005)
Graduate student researcher in the Pine laboratory at UCSB before its move to New York University. At NYU, assisted in the design and layout of the chemical component of the center consisting of synthesis and analytical laboratories. Experience setting up and calibrating some instruments as well as using them to analyze inorganic and organic particles in solution. Focus on fabrication of directionally-oriented latex particles using click chemistry, as well as assymetric colloidal particles with protrusions. Additional courses beyond advanced kinetics, thermodynamics, mathematics and transport processes include semiconductors, engineering ethics, French and entrepreneurship.
Department of Chemical Engineering, The University of Sydney (2001 - 2002)
Studied the mechanism of the clarification of sugar using a synthetic solution to produce flocs. Analyzed the subsequent flocs for fractal dimension using confocal microscopy and light scattering.
Department of Chemical Engineering, Rice University (1997 - 2001)
Experimental and simulation studies utilizing videomicroscopy, computer tracking and fluorescence microscopy. As an undergraduate, also co-authored 3 peer-reviewed articles and 8 conference presentations for APS, ACS and AIChE.
