June of 2008. Far far north well inside the arctic circle near a "city" called Longyearbyen,
Norway. I was traveling between islands with a friend (Dan) around 78.2 degrees north.

Convective flow pattern and temperature distribution visualized
by liquid- crystal beads. The change of postion of the free floating
boundary on the top and the overall flow pattern is due to their
mutual interaction: the viscous flow moves the floating boundary
and the the latter affects the flow pattern. This experiment is
motivated by the geophysical process of continental drift.
